Your First Session
Knowing what to expect makes the first visit easier. Here's how your first appointment at Peak Physiotherapy works — and what to bring.
-
Before you arrive
Wear comfortable clothing you can move in — we may need to see the area we’re assessing, so loose or sports clothing works well. Bring any relevant scans, reports, or referral letters if you have them (you don’t need a referral to book).
-
When you get here
Free parking is available at the practice. Arrive a few minutes early for your first visit so we can complete a short intake form. Your first appointment is a full hour.
-
The assessment
We start by understanding your problem — your symptoms, your history, your daily activities and goals. Then we assess how you move, to find not just where it hurts, but why.
-
Your plan
You’ll leave with a clear explanation of what’s going on, a realistic timeline, and the first steps of a treatment plan built around your goals. Where appropriate, treatment starts in the same session.

Common questions
Do I need a referral for my first appointment?
No. You can book directly with us — a doctor’s referral is not required to be assessed and treated.
What should I bring?
Comfortable clothing you can move in, and any relevant scans, reports, or letters if you have them. Bring your medical aid details if you plan to claim.
How long is the first session?
A first appointment is a full hour, allowing time for a thorough assessment and to begin treatment where appropriate.
Do you claim from medical aid?
Yes — see our medical aid page for the full breakdown of how billing works. We also see private (cash-pay) patients.
